Sherpa Original Deluxe Pet Carrier product review

February 21, 2014 | Comments Off

Sherpa® is a well-known carrier source for pets on-the-go, so I was quite excited to be able to review one! This brand features a collection of comfortable, durable, and soft pet carriers. From their best-selling Original Deluxe Sherpa pet carrier to their exclusive Delta and American Airlines pet carriers, they have pet carriers for every breed of small dog and cat. Sherpa® was the first soft-sided pet carrier to be endorsed by major airlines and continue to be the industry standard for pet carriers. Small and medium sizes are included in Sherpa’s Guaranteed On Board® program. See www.flygob.com for details. Not only are these great for traveling by plane, but they are perfect for the car, a trip, or just going to the vet. They come in the colors black, brown, plum, and gray, and they are available in sizes small, medium, and large.

Here are a few photos of the Original Deluxe Sherpa Pet Carrier:

The verdict? The first thing I noticed is that the mesh that surrounds this Sherpa is a lot tougher and stronger than on some of the other carriers I’ve dealt with. In fact, Sam has been able to chew his way right on out of one of his soft-sided carriers before which still frightens me when I think about it! I also like how roomy it is for him as he’s gotten to be our biggest cat over the years. Though with his diabetes and weight fluctuations, I’m not sure exactly where he’ll end up, so this is good to have for that reason as well. I also like how tough the zippers are to move, and I hope that they stay that way – to me that means that the cats are secure in there and can’t nudge them open on their own. Sherpa also has carriers with wheels that I’d love, love, love to review for chronic pain reasons. I ran into a woman at an emergency vet recently who recommended hers for just that very reason! She said the rolling helped her back out greatly instead of having something strapped to her back or her side. If you purchase any of their products, please let me know what you think!

(Full disclosure – Sherpa provided this item to us free of charge in exchange for a product review. Thanks!)
