Solar Chasers product review

Solar Chasers, the first-of-its-kind cat toy powered by the sun, is a great new product that my kitties recently had the opportunity to review! All you need to do to run this is to find a clean surface so the provided suction cups adhere, make sure the surface is in a sunny spot, turn the switch on the bottom to select “sun powered,” and watch as the toy itself swings back and forth. Easy! The quiet hum of the motor when sunlight hits the solar cell is enough to bring cats running, because to them it is the sound of playtime! It’s environmentally friendly and never needs batteries. The industrial strength suction cups are designed to handle even the largest of cats. The powerful motor operates horizontally and vertically, so be sure to challenge you cat with different positions. Please keep in mind that this toy needs to be placed in a window where the sun is shining directly through; dirty or tinted windows and screens block part of the sunlight that the toy needs to run. And the swinging toy hangs from a removable rod which actually makes this a 2-in-1 toy because you can play with just that part of the toy on a cloudy or rainy day!

Included in the package:
- 1 Solar Chaser

Here is some information about Solar Chasers from its website:

Our flagship design marries environmental responsibility, fun, and spontaneity into the life of you and your feline friends! It works purely off the power of the sun. No batteries to replace EVER means no added cost or worse, shelving your toy indefinitely because you don’t have any batteries around!

Simply place our toy onto any clean window that gets direct sunlight, place the switch to the “Sun Powered” position, sit back, and enjoy watching your feline friends play the day away! The toy will automatically start itself up and turn itself off when it senses the solar cell is being struck by sunlight!

But what if the sun is setting and your best feline friend isn’t done playing? Not a problem with The Solar Chaser, simply detach the wand for endless hours of one on one play with your kitty.

The verdict? It was hard to get pictures and videos of them all playing with it, but I know that they have. The cleaner even informed me that she saw Sam smacking it to pieces one Friday morning, yet he’s not in anything I posted. For whatever reason, whenever they heard me or Mark coming with the camera, they stopped or slowed down with the playing. What little bratty brats! We keep it mainly on the second floor because of the tall, bright windows in the sunroom, and I spend most of my time on the third floor with a heating pad. So you’ll just have to trust me when I say that they play with this a lot more than what I’m able to show you here. Besides, what’s not a cat to love about it? It swings intermittently, and they can bat at it, pounce on it, and smack it until their little furry hearts are content! And for us, we don’t have to worry about replacing batteries and all that goes along with that. We can, if we want, move the toy around the house to match the sun as it moves around throughout the day. Plus, if there’s a rainy day, we can just use the rod/wand attachment solo. By entertaining cats in general, we keep undesirable behaviors at bay. This particular toy thrives on a feline’s natural curiosity and hunting instincts to engage in non-destructive play in an area of our choosing. Thus, it’s purrfect! If you purchase this product, please let me know what you think!

(Full disclosure – Solar Chasers provided this item to us free of charge in exchange for a product review. Thanks!)
